Waikino is about 1.1/2 hrs from Auckland. An easy drive south passing through dairy and agricultural land and charming small NZ towns. Waikino was built to service the gold mines but is now a sleepy little village in the bush. Our house sleeps 8 and there is a double bed for 2 more in a warm cabin outside. There are two sofa beds on the mezzanine floor for large families. We are north facing, so get the sun all day, and overlook a great lawn and garden where you can relax at home and play games. There is a barbecue and seating on the deck. Our home is more suited to a family on holiday who wants to be close-ish to the city but wants to experience the beauty of NZ scenery and small towns. The tariff is for the whole house rather than each room.

Our large family home is on 2,000 sq mtrs section, very private with gardens and trees. I have two children, along with a few pets, two dogs (Zoe & Coco) two cats (Mika and Mia) a duck called Meep, and guinea pigs. The house is open and very spacious, with 5 bedrooms and a large bathroom and separate toilet in our laundry room. The native bush and beach are nearby, and the bush is within walking distance to the house, the beach is 8 mins drive from our home. As we live in a mining town Martha Mine is right in the middle of our little town. If you google it you'll get a better view of it before you come and stay with us. Our house is situated on a very quiet little Cul De Sac with only three houses , may daughter sometimes brings her horse up onto the property. If you dont have a fear of horses she can even take you for a ride if you are keen. Restaurants, shops and supermarkets are all within walking distance.

I have a two bedroom home with one room spare. Our town is near to the gateway to the Coromandel, half hour from Matamata (home of The Hobbit experience), 1 1/2 hours to Auckland City and just over an hour to our beautiful ocean beaches at Tauranga. We have hot springs nearby and our own warm pools in town. Mt Te Aroha can be climbed by those who have the fitness to do so and Waiwere Falls is a gorgeous climb to make if you have the energy. Rotorua is around 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive to see mud pools, guysers and much NZ history. We only have two buses a day in Te Aroha but I may be persuaded to transport guests if they provide the petrol to do so. I am a working person but am home at least 12 hours of each day. I can provide a breakfast and there is a chip shop about 5 minutes walk from my house. There is a computer in the bedroom for respectful use by the homestayer. I have cats.
