When you move into a place with existing tenants, you have to become acclimated to their existing rules and structure. Which isn't a problem as long as it makes sense. When you move in with a roommate from day 1, you both create the environment and atmosphere for the place from the start. It makes it easy moving forward. I'm private but not a shut out. I'm not against living with someone where you say hi and bye and a few occasional things here and there...I have a life. I'm also not against socializing and becoming close with the person you live with either. If you have things in common and get along....then why not?
